Mechanical
Engine / Gearbox
Geraint has been building and repairing engines and gearboxes for the last 30 years. It's recommended to use a rebuilt engine for new projects, but not always. You also have the choice of a Citroen H or Ford Pinto engine. Checkout the products page for more info on different engines.
Steering / Brakes / Suspension
With modern vehicles, you usually just replace a bunch of worn out parts and head out on the road.. Since H vans don't have new parts to order, most need to be services or rebuilt when they go out. A lot of the day in and day out is servicing these parts.
Inspections
MOT
Trying to make a classic vehicle pass MOT can be a frustrating task. So we go out of our way to make sure that every H van we work on is ready to pass MOT standards, if the van will be used on the roads.
Other Inspections
Every country has different standards for vehicles on the road. If you have a special set of needs for your H van, please let me know what they are, and we will make sure that it is prepared to pass your inspections, within reason.
Installations
Commercial
There are a lot of H vans being converted for commercial use. They look beautiful, grab the eye, and have a great open design, that allows complete customization for many types of service. Or team at Dragon Classics can help you plan out and also build the right interior for your needs.
Personal
Historically, H vans were used for commercial work. Yet, a great deal were converted over to camper vans. They are so spacious and roomy that you don't need a popup to fit a full sized bed, and have room to cook. We can either help restore a camper H van or build one up from a base model.
Electrical
6 volt & 12 volt
Up until 1963, H vans were 6 volt. For a fun personal vehicle, 6 volt isn't so bad. For commercial use, 6 volt can be troublesome. The battery doesn't keep charge, the lamps are dim... But every project is different, so we can help you determine if keeping 6 volt or upgrading is best.
FIXTURES & Lighting
Regardless of the purpose of the vehicle, having good interior lighting, and fixtures can really make a big difference. Luckily we have LED lighting and use it on most of our projects.
